📋 Instructions

In Chess 2D, the game is played on an 8x8 grid, with each player starting with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The pieces are placed on the two rows closest to each player, with pawns filling the second row, and the other pieces arranged in the first row. The goal of the game is to checkmate your opponent’s king, which means the king is in a position where it cannot escape capture on the next move.

Each piece moves in a specific way:

King: Moves one square in any direction.
Queen: Moves diagonally, horizontally, or vertically any number of squares.
Rook: Moves horizontally or vertically any number of squares.
Bishop: Moves diagonally any number of squares.
Knight: Moves in an "L" shape—two squares in one direction and one square perpendicular, or vice versa.
Pawn: Moves forward one square but captures diagonally. On its first move, a pawn may move two squares forward. Pawns can also promote to any other piece (except the king) when they reach the opponent's back rank.
Players take turns making moves, with the objective of capturing the opponent’s pieces and ultimately placing the opponent's king in checkmate. If a player's king is placed in check, they must make a move to get out of check, either by moving the king, blocking the attack, or capturing the threatening piece. The game can end in a draw if there are insufficient pieces to checkmate, or if a stalemate occurs (when a player has no legal move but their king is not in check).

You can play against the AI or challenge a friend in multiplayer mode. The game progresses with each player using strategy, tactics, and foresight to gain an advantage, making Chess 2D a challenging yet rewarding experience for players at all skill levels.
